#24 Far Away, So Close...

I got much closer than Barcelona but I have yet to get inside that inner circle. The first show in Dublin was incredible! They put on quite a show for their hometown. This was the first show where I ever heard them play Stay (faraway, so close) live. It was an acoustic version and it was beautiful. Seriously such a good song...goosebumps!

#23 Waiting for the show to start...

The waiting is the hardest part...but the anticipation builds until you practically burst once U2 finally hits the stage. (In the background you can see a couple of Aung San Suu Kyi masks the they passed out on the first leg and the audience was asked to wear them during "walk on" to protest her imprisonment)

#22 Wall of Fame...

I feel like I'm destined to love all things Irish. I was born on St. Patrick's day and therefore was named Patricia...I don't know if it's because my family always gave me green things for my birthday or because I genuinely chose it but green is my signature color. I fell in love with U2 obviously but The Cranberries, another Irish band pictured on this wall, was my first concert ever at age 16...full of angst and wearing doc martens.

#20 Seems like old times...

The hard rock cafe here is chock full of U2 memorabilia. "Walk on" down memory lane. Oh to have been at a zoo tv show...sigh.

#18 Dublin your fun!

Fresh off a red-eye flight. Bright eyed and bushy tailed ready to see U2 in Croke Park! I have tickets for 2 of the 3 shows. I have seem them in Dublin on the Popmart tour in 1997 so I know how many U2 fans are crawling around the city and how much U2 energy is pulsing through the city's veins, but it's nice to have the reminder. I spend most of the day walking around and taking in the sites, sounds and beauty.

#17 Over all too soon...

Months of anticipating and it was over all too soon. There's an emotional high that comes from the show, especially when you're surrounded by 90,000 other fans. Inside the pit the jumping, screaming and swaying is definitely not optional. The show was the 2nd of July, sweaty hot, and general admission requires hours of standing and waiting. I was exhausted once it was over...decided to go out and catch a cab. I had arrived at Camp Nou in the early afternoon and just took the train. Turns out, after the show, night buses were the only public transportation available and cabs were crammed with passengers. Since I don't speak or understand much Spanish, let alone night bus schedules. I decided to walk in the general direction of my hotel until I found a free cab. Block after block, I walked and walked. I saw a naked bike rider at 3 in morning. Completely naked except for socks and shoes. Interesting how his feet were the only things requiring protection...1.5 hours and 4.2 miles later, I reached my hotel room exhausted and spent but still on cloud nine. All worth it.

#15 Blackberry Loves U2...

Two exciting things happened at show I saw in Barcelona.

1. The boys played "Electrical Storm"...one of my absolute favorite songs. It was incredible and incredibly memorable.
2. They played "Crazy" twice...because they were filming it for the Blackberry commercial that ended up playing on tv over and over and I got to brag to everyone and anyone that would listen that I was at that show. Yes...the Blackberry loves U2 show!

#6 Probing Interview...

The interviewer was asking very "deep" questions. It was kind of a joke. Just let them rock out!

#3 Early Morning Indeed

how often do you find out that U2 is playing less than 2 miles from your home?! brenda and i were getting in, regardless of the fact that you had to be a fordham university student. we scoped it out the night before and were ready to scale walls "in the name of love". i had a fitful night's sleep horrified i was going to sleep through my 4am alarm...but as you can see, success! we ended up tagging along with other fordham students. each was allowed to bring one guest, unbeknownst to them. (multiple other attempts were made including walking into a chemistry building as security was shouting at us, only to realize there was no exit through the back of the building and having to exit shamefully walking past the very security guard that told us we couldn't get in).

#2 Accidentally Bypassed

No Line on the Horizon release week in NYC. They boys were all about town, spent the week at the Dave Letterman show, had a street named after them (guess the streets do have names here), and performed on Good Morning America. More pics to come...
